-
Read Newspaper everyday & magazines every week/month?
- Do you need 50 cable TV channels to watch?
- Can you avoid dining out frequently?
- If you receive less phone calls a day, do you need call waiting, call forwarding,
caller-id and other amenities?
- List out anything else that you think that is not absolutely essential!
- Can you still manage your life without these above luxuries?
If your answer is "YES" and if possible then cut down all these immediately. You'll be amazed
as how much money you can save every month!

Put a Garage sale once in 6 months and sell all unwanted old but good items.
- Do good level of research and compare rates before going for any service or
purchase and pick the best
deal. This logic applies to Groceries, Cell phones, Internet service, Insurance etc.,
- Always go for coupons. Don't leave even if you get only little savings on that.
Every penny is your hard earned money.
- Buy only weekend special or Sunday papers where you get coupons
- Don't throw any coupons if it is still valid. You may not need now. But later
it can be useful.
- Make a coupon folder and file all the coupons.
- Always set goals by having a "Savings calendar". Set due dates for goals.
But do not put any pressure on reaching goals. It's OK if you cannot reach that on
due date. In due course things will come to your control. Good things take time.
Check your savings progress periodically - let's say every 3 months.
